On 4 October 2019 Vilnius University Faculty of Philology held a conference „Translation in a modern society: the changing profile of a translator, ethics, expectations“ organized by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Translation and the Institute for Literary, Cultural and Translation Studies, Vilnius University. The LINGVOBALT managing director Aleksandra Drublionienė took part in this annual event. The major focus of the conference was on  translators’ professionalism and ethics in the context of application of modern technologies and ensuring information confidentiality. The speakers also touched upon the challenges of machine translation, changes in the translation industry, translator’s personality traits and translation companies’ expectations regarding professional skills of linguists. This event has become a great opportunity for our company to meet the representatives of the European Commission and Lithuanian universities and other translation industry experts as well as discuss realities of the modern translation world.
