On April 17, Aleksandra Drublioniene, CEO of the translation company LINGVOBALT, gave a short speech during the LocPub event, the latest initiative of the language industry professionals uniting like-minded people from all over the world. The virtual LocPub event was organized as a response to the cancellation of language industry events due to the COVID-19 pandemic. When presenting, she expressed her views on how to deal with the staff potential free time in case the volume of orders drops. She emphasized the importance of discussing it with the company’s employees and asking them how they could contribute. One of the solutions would be to use additional skills and competences they have. A lot of attention was also given to the relations between project managers and customers as well as the importance of showing care and attention to the customers’ changing needs. According to her, this period gives opportunities to find out more about the skills and competences of the staff, to empower them with giving new responsibilities, and to make the relations between them and customers stronger. We believe that participation in such events and exchanging views let translation companies optimize their activity and help their clients to go through this period of uncertainty.
